In Stockholm and Skellefteå, we’re developing our LiDAR system. Our responsibilities range from product lead, optics, mechanics, electronics to SW development and system engineering. To our aid we also have a modern and fully equipped testing facility
Background: LiDAR is an emerging technology enabling autonomous vehicles (AV) and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) by producing high resolution range measurements. For all optical systems the influence of atmosphere and weather is a challenge. In this study the influence of weather and absorption effects should be investigated experimentally and compared to theory or simulations. Especially effects of different optical wavelengths will be investigated and how winter weather like snow affects LiDAR performance.
Purpose: The goal is to analyze LiDAR data and compare to simulated results and theory in order to better understand how LiDAR performance is affected by different weather conditions.
- Gain knowledge about optical sensors and theory for optical propagation and scattering.
